There are simple post-storm roof checks that you can do that are easy and safe. Getting on a ladder or on your roof can be dangerous and is better left to your roofing contractor. The following can be done at ground level.
Check the Top of Your Roof
Standing at the end of your driveway or across the street in most circumstances will allow you to see on top of your roof. Be sure to check if there are tree branches or other debris on it. If so, these need to be removed as soon as possible before they cause damage.
Check Your Gutters
Is water coming out from the spout at an even flow or does it seem slowed? After a storm debris fall into your gutters, including sticks and branches and should be removed as soon as possible.
In addition, an excessive amount of granules or dirt in the gutters or spouts in any section, this is a sign of shingle damage and should be looked at immediately before a small problem becomes a bigger one.
